Social Responsibility
F. Gaviña & Sons, Inc. partnered with CISA Exportadora in July of 2003 in “Adopt a School Project”, which benefits coffee farming communities in Nicaragua. Our companies participated in a major renovation of the Ena Sanchez School in Quilali and built a classroom in San José de la Luz School. We continue to support these schools through teaching programs, attendance programs, books and school supplies. We hope to continue this effort by supporting social projects in other coffee producing countries.
In 2006, F. Gaviña & Sons, Inc. partnered with AMSA and ECOM Trading to fund social projects in Oaxaca, Mexico in the coffee communities of San Juan Lachao and Santa Lucia Teotepec. The project will consist of opening a remote learning center in each community together with Tecnologico de Monterrey (Mexico’s “Harvard University”). Members of these communities will be able to complete their grade school, high school, undergraduate, and graduate studies via online courses.
Gaviña supports many local charity organizations, schools and churches by donating coffee and coffee gift baskets for raffles and silent auctions. We also brew and serve our delicious Don Francisco’s, Café La Llave and Gaviña Gourmet Coffee at many charity and community events throughout the year.
